My mission
The profession of ocularist brings together all the criteria that make this profession unique and rare. I appreciate its medical, artistic but also relational and psychological aspect.
The fitting of an ocular prosthesis is an important step in the recovery of a normal social life for patients. The loss of an eye or sight is traumatic. I am present and attentive to you to support you as much as possible in this step. I offer you a personalized service and follow-up. I am ready and determined to help you regain the expression of a most natural look.
My services
I make custom-made ocular prostheses based on an impression. The color of the iris and sclera is reproduced using natural pigments. The time required to make an ocular prosthesis, from manufacturing to delivery, is 2 days. It is possible to adapt appointments to your schedule and I can travel if necessary and on request (max. radius 20km).
I have been trained by specialists in congenital microphthalmia/anophthalmia. The fitting technique is inspired by that used by members of the American Society of Ocularists. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Votre oculariste

Audrey SCHAAL, with Alsatian roots from the Pays de Ribeauvillé. I was born in the United States, in Dallas, Texas, where I lived for 12 years. I met Randy Trawnik, a very close friend of my family, who is a fabulous ocularist renowned in the USA.
Curious, I allowed myself to venture into his office to discover his very particular profession: the manufacture of artificial eyes.
After an internship in 2016 with an ocularist in Stuttgart, at the Ruth Müller-Welt GmbH practice, I wanted to become an ocularist. After obtaining my BTS optician, I was able to join the Pierre and Marie Curie Faculty of Medicine in Paris, the Sorbonne University, to obtain the University Diploma in Applied Ocular Prosthesis, obtained in 2017.
In the meantime, I was hired in Germany at the Müller-Welt office. I worked there for 5 wonderful years. I became a member of the American Society of Ocularists in continuing education and training. I acquired all the theoretical and practical knowledge necessary to pass my diplomas thanks to these unforgettable experiences.
And when I don't do prosthetics...?

Community life:
Thanks to the American Society of Ocularists and the European Association of Ocularists, I create a relationships with colleagues, doctors and friends located all over the world. This allows me to exchange with them on topics concerning our rare profession. We help each other and share our respective knowledge. Thus, it is very important for me to keep in touch with them.
Nature and mountain biking have a big place in my life. Indeed, I am co-president of an association that promotes women mountain biking in Alsace. I am also an active member of the local of a hiking club. Workwise, I am a member of the American Society of Oculariste (ASO).
